Tom Hamilton — Installations

The electronic sound environment replaces most of the natural sound in the space that contains it. The listener enters the room to find a work-in-progress. One can dwell there, leave, return - it doesn’t matter. This music is in a seeming state of perpetual activity.

In some of these works a soloist may enter the room unannounced. This person’s solo is improvised, and of an unspecified duration. The soloist finishes and exits. leaving the environment as the predominant sound source in the room. It is uncertain to the listener what happens next. (Perhaps the listener will discover that it is already happening.)
